Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

If you drag and drop a file from your windows manager (Nautilus for instance) to your Ipod in Rhythmbox, nothing happens. To upload a file to an ipod, the file must be added to the library first and then dragged and dropped from the library to the ipod.

I think it would be really nice to be able to upload a file to the ipod directly, without passing through the library.

thanks for your report, that works fine for me, I'm able to drag a file from my music folder on nautilus to the nautilus device, are you using nautilus in icon view or list view? to which place exactly inside rhythmbox are you dragging the file? thanks.

Hi Pedro,

I am sorry if my report has not been precise enough.

I have tried with both list and icon view in my nautilus window : the behaviour is the same.

I drag a file from a Nautilus window and drop it on the bar having the name of my Ipod in the section Devices of the Side Pane. If I try to drop it in the frame where my ipod songs are listed, the icon flies away. But if I drop it on the bar, the small "+" symbol appears and all seems to work properly... but nothing happens.

Thanks,

Arnaud

Still an issue? May you try the same with Intrepid? May you forward it upstream since you're facing the issue?

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut should be a small usability issue , in the default Ubuntu 9.10 install , that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be addressed as part of the project.

feature request is not a papercut

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "invalid" ONLY in the papercuts project.

I am also unable to drag music files from Nautilus to Rhythmbox iPod panel. I have to add these files to my library first, then drag them over to the iPod section in Rhythmbox. I have also tested dragging from Rox into Rhythmbox's iPod panel and that does not work either.

Ubuntu 10.04, updated to most recent everything as of 5/15 (though problem has existed since at least Ubuntu 9.10).
