Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When starting a CD extraction, there is no way to cancel it without quitting rhthmbox.

Sugestions :
- A cancel button in the status bar, near the progress bar.
- A cancel button near the extract CD button
- An extract button which is keept clicked when extracting so that unclicking it
pause the extraction, just like how the play/pause buton behave.

Thank you for your bug report. No need to open upstream bug report already known on bugzilla on launchpad too though

I would also like to see this implementation; from my Windows background, I instinctively began searching for the "cancel" option when I realized I wanted to extract a CD using a different format ... but too late, the extraction had already begun ... (And, from Windows, I fear abruptly canceling processes that write to disk.)

This bug is more serious than previously though. I tried "extracting" from a scratched CD on my dual core Intel Core 2 Duo running at 2.33 GHz. The "extraction" appeared to be frozen for twenty minutes, and the entire time, my load average hovered around 4.58!!! I couldn't even double click an icon on my Desktop to launch Gedit without having to wait OVER A MINUTE for it to appear.

I recommend escalating the "Low" priority of this bug immediately.

This is frustrating, combined with the fact that the first time you don't know what format are you ripping to, it's most likely that you will need to cancel, look all over the preferences to change to mp3, then realize there's not "stop ripping" button and wonder if you should close the Rhythmbox or extract the CD.

I don't think Ubuntu can ship with an audio player/ripper that is missing such an useful, yet probably easy to implement, function.
This bug is several years old, can we hope it to be fixed for 12.04??

This bug was sent to upstream developers and should be handled there. Due to a limited number of developers we can't fix all the bugs. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToFix for instructions of fixing this bug
