Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I use the 8.04 beta, rhythmbox 0.11.5-0ubuntu1

Procedure :
I am playing music (on the hard drive) with Rhythmbox. I plug my iPod Shuffle (I don't know if it's the same with others iPod) and the player stops playing music and focus on the iPod content.

I think it would be normal to NOT stop playing music while I plug my iPod (as in iTunes). No ?

thanx

I have the same trouble with my iPod video. Also, when I right-click the iPod in Rhythmbox and unmount it, Rhythmbox crashes before it starts up again.

It's not quite the same thing, but I had a similiar issue when copying off a CD.

Whenever I would insert a new CD, whatever was playing would stop. The solution was to go into Nautilus and change the default actions under 'Edit > Preferences > Media' from 'Open Rhythmbox Music Player' to 'Ask what to do' (or 'Do Nothing' if you prefer). Now, it plays without interruption.

There is a similiar control for 'Music Player'. Try changing that.

I am confirming having the same issue on rhythmbox 0.11.5-0ubuntu8. When playing an mp3 and inserting an audio CD or an iPod, the mp3 stops playing.

I found a workaround for this. Open a nautilus window, go to Edit => Preferences => Media and change the value for Music Player to something other than Rhythmbox (ex: Do nothing or Ask what to do)

I just realized that Craig B already posted this workaround... Sorry for posting something that has already been said.

confirming with audio-cd.
sadly disabling the "what to do" dialog is not an option for me.
