option to play what a DAAP share is playing

Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Being able to play my flatmate's songs through DAAP with rhythmbox is just great, but I wish I were able to listen to what he is listening to, at the same moment. So I wonder, would it be possible for RB to synchronize to a DAAP share and play what it's playing?

Thanks for your report, Does the DAAP protocol gives you that info?

I really don't know. I hope someone who does and can actually answer that question sees this.

Hi there
i don't think this would be feasible using daap protocol since as far as i know, this doesn't push any stream just serve it for the user to ask and get, this is more likely to be done in something like icecast stream. but would you be satisfy for instance by something like a smart playlist which shows the current song being played by the owner of the share, of course you probably won't listen the same song at the exact same time, but could be an approach.

This is likely an upstream task and it should be handled by the rhythmbox developers, the best option is discuss this on the the rhythmbox mailing list because it's more like a spec to deal with, thanks.

I'm closing this report due the last comment, please do send your request to the rhythmbox mailing list, so this feature could be discussed by the developers of the application and they decide if this would be feasible and can be a nice feature to have. Thanks again for taking the time to report this issue and help to make Ubuntu better, don't hesitate to report any future issues you might encounter.
