Did you use the filter feature at the time? Was it still updating the view when you clicked?

Yes, its reproducible with Firefox.
The crash occurred if i open the link with Rhythmbox, which was the default.
Now my default is Video(Totem) ;-)

Still cannot reproduce. Is it on 17.10 ? Do you have rhythmbox already open while clicking the link in firefox ? More information might help.

@stinger: Get a crash when opening a link with Rhythmbox. This is tracked in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=790586. But, the crash mentioned in the bug description is different from that.

1. I have never seen this error in upstream rhythmbox.

2. All instances of this bug are in Ubuntu with rhythmbox-plugin-alternative-toolbar plugin from the logs.

3. The below bug confirms that disabling rhythmbox-plugin-alternative-toolbar makes the crash go away.

affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) → rhythmbox-plugin-alternative-toolbar (Ubuntu)
