Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Whenever I click the "Magnatune"-source in the left pane, it starts to read magnatune directory (or database). The progressbar moves back and for forever and never becomes ready. My colleague has the same problem. Two weeks ago this worked well, but any longer. I've tried it several times on different days. Restarting the application, or the whole computer does not help, nor changing to different network.

I'm running up-to-date Ubuntu Feisty. Installed package version is 0.10.0-0ubuntu2.

Amarok loads/updates the magnatune database correctly in a few seconds.

Would be nice if you may try to reproduce your problem with Gutsy Gibbon because it works just fine here with it, you may grab a CD Image from here: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/

I installed gutsy tribe 5 on VirtualBox virtual machine and tried Rhythmbox. Looks like magnatune plugin works there for me, too.

I'd like to try resetting all the settings for rhythmbox (on feisty) and retry the magnatune plugin, but I don't know how to get rid of all rhythmbox specific settings in my system. Do I need gconf-editor for that? Any advice?

you can reset the gconf configuration using "gconftool --recursive-unset /apps/rhythmbox"

Resetting the configuration didn't help. Neither did compiling newer rhythmbox (for feisty) from gutsy source package.

Letting unconfirmed, describing easy steps to trigger the bug would be nice

The bug should probably be sent on bugzilla.gnome.org by somebody getting it

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
