1/ Connect an iPad 3 that has never been initialised on iTunes
2/ Open Rhythmbox

What happens : Rhythmbox asks if you want to initialise your iPod (see screenshot - in french).
What should happen : Rhythmbox asks if you want to initialise your iPad.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.
