Bug Description

Running rhythmbox -d, import a directory with nothing but wav files:
[0x10219930] [rb_metadata_load] rb-metadata-gst.c:560 (16:16:33): ignoring file
file:///home/khc/Music/wav/What%20a%20Wonderful%20World%20(Single).wav with
detected type audio/x-wav
[0x10219930] [rhythmdb_add_song] rhythmdb.c:945 (16:16:33): unsupported file

All the files were ignored with identical output except the filename.
totem-gstreamer can play those files fine.

Yes, I think that's a known issue due to the fact that wav files don't have
metadatas but I have not found a corresponding but upstream. I've opened
a bug about this:

Sebastien Bacher (seb128) wrote :

that's confirmed by upstream. Do you have an idea on how to get useful informations
on the files (artist, album, ...) ? Using "unknown" fields is a solution, what
do you
think about it (the title would be the filename)

Ka-Hing Cheung (kahing) wrote :

I think "unknown" is fine, for the record Totem says the same thing as well.
Ideally rhythmbox would ask me for such information, but that is beyond the
scope of this bug report.

this upload fixes the issue:

 rhythmbox (0.8.8cvs20050710-0ubuntu1) breezy; urgency=low

   * Package of the current CVS:
     - automatic playlists are updated when an entry in them changes.
     - build with the current nautilus-cd-burner.
     - accept wav files (Ubuntu: #3704).
     - don't complain about text/* and image/* types being non-audio files.
     - popup the menu on keyboard shortcuts.
     - fix a number of bugs with the RBEntryView sort-order.
   * debian/control.in:
     - build with nautilus-cd-burner.
     - Depends on totem (Ubuntu: #12248).
   * debian/patches/07_translations.patch:
     - updated.
