Bug Description

This package is built for rhythmbox v0.1x found in Lucid/Natty.

This package contains python source code incompatible with GTK3 - plugin format itself is the old .rb-plugin naming convention - not as the GTK3 format .plugin.

The author of the plugin has not updated to GTK3 format - as such I would recommend you delete this from BOTH oneiric and Precise - and all future versions of ubuntu.

FYI - I've got a ported version of this particular plugin on github https://github.com/fossfreedom/radio-browser

However, I dont recommend that any "third-party" plugins should be actually in the repository since they are quickly out-of-date - seemingly the package is never maintained from upstream sources.

As this package is Ubuntu specific, it doesn't have a dedicated maintainer. If you would like to keep the version up to date with the version of rhythmbox, we can certainly sponsor those updates for you. Otherwise, I'd be happy to ACK the removal. I subscribed Alexander Murauer who seems to be the person who originally got it into Ubuntu. Unsubscribing ubuntu-sponsors for now, please resubscribe if sponsoring is needed.

Micah -
  thanks for replying.

I would recommend removal - all versions from oneiric onwards.

It seems lots of people using the GTK3/Rhythmbox 2.9x compatible radio-browser are currently doing so through my PPA - so I'm happy to continue supporting people through that route.

thanks.

My apologies for not replying before. We can only remove it from the devel series (raring ATM). The only things we can do for the stable releases are SRU it if it's totally broke, or backport a newer version if it works sufficiently for some purposes.

ok - little strange that we leave broken stuff in the Universe repo...

if you can - can I recommend to then delete it from raring ... at least then future ubuntu versions will not have this obsolete package.
