Restricted drivers manager pops up before a apt-get update is done

Bug #145161 reported by Nicklas Svanteson on 2007-09-26
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
restricted-manager (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

New install from daily build 25-Sep-2007.

On a new install the restricted drivers manager pops up before a apt-get update is done.
It results in the following error message when trying to enable the driver:

The software source for the package

is not enabled.

The error message is correct but it should not behave this way. Confusing for beginners.

Thank you for your suggestion. However, the changes you are requesting aren't really a bug and require more discussion, which should be done on an appropriate mailing list or forum. [WWW] might be a good start for determining which mailing list to use.

Yes, I agree, it's not a bug.

I have posted a message in Ubuntu-devel-discuss.
