Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Testing Maverick Alpha 3

I have the following partition map:

sda1 (/)
sda2
------> sda5 (swap)

In the rescue mode menu, it should only appear sda1 as possible root file system, but instead it shows the three options (sda1, sda2 and sda5.

Obviously, only the first one does not fail when selected as root filesystem.

This is debatable. One of the issues with trying to do smarter detection here is that, practically by definition, if you're using rescue mode then something is broken and you're trying to recover from it. I don't want to try to second-guess too much the set of things that might be wrong with your filesystem, and some of those things might involve it being detected incorrectly.

It might be worth at least showing the detected filesystem type.

I wonder if this isn't about friendly recovery and not the rescue source package.
