Bug Description

Binary package hint: reportbug

Quite a few bug fixes since 4.2. Hopefully debian will get some more of the debian bts bugs fixed before karmic DIF. This version should at least make the new gtk2 ui mostly usable.

NOTE: Most of the new bugs since 3.48 are due to the new gtk2 ui. A reportbug config setting allows easy switching between the various interfaces (the text-mode interface has been largely untouched since 3.48).

Here is the candidate debdiff. The "--install-layout=deb" change was dropped because debian applied it. All other changes are carried over from 4.2ubuntu1.

Sandro: I think that Kow was just making a statement about the current situation of reportbug bugs and not directly criticising the reportbug maintainers.

There's no need for that kind of language.

fine, so help debian fix those bugs. publicly writing what Kow wrote
for an open source project is no-no: do something to help, or just
don't say anything.

And the story about "ubuntu keeps messing up with reportbug" goes on.

I didn't use any particular language.

Can you elaborate on "keeps messing up with reportbug"? Is there a particular problem you're referring to?

I was just on "clueless" - I really doubt that it was Kow's intent to criticise the good work that the reportbug maintainers put into it.

I was not in any way criticizing upstream. As part of merging we're supposed to check in on both debian bts bugs and also lp bugs. I didn't want to list every single bug that debian fixed between 4.2 and 4.4 (heck, they're already in the changelog) but I wanted to point out that "hey... I didn't just blindly merge this package." Sorry for the confusion.
