I've been suffering from this since upgrading to 12.04.

I can trigger it by minimizing, but sometimes it happens without doing so. Seems random and intermittent.

I too have a dual screen setup, but have the second display disabled, though it is connected.

This is a huge problem for me since I have to rdp often.

Hi,

This bug affects me too with Remmina 0.9.99.1. Never an issue in 11.10 but persistent (well, intermittent but frequent) problem since upgrading to 12.04 (64 bit). I recently tried a clean install of 12.04 to see if that would help but it did not. I have also tried it in Lubuntu and Gnome Shell and problem seems to recur there.

I find that the connection most often drops if I switch to any other desktop or minimise from full screen, but the problem behaviour seems inconsistent. I have only one monitor.

This is a major hassle for me, as I use RDP at work, and now find myself having to log back in to sessions 20-30 times a day.

Disappointing to have this break in a Long Term release.

Sad face.

Hello,

This bug affects me too with Remmina (1.0.0-1ubuntu6) in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
I have a multiple monitor setup, but usually I don't use Remmina's full screen mode.
When I move the mouse pointer from within the RDP session to the other screen, the RDP session drops.

On the console:
PatBlt: unknown rop: 0x00500325
send: Connection reset by peer

This happens about 10 times a day, so I configured the username/password for automated logins ;-)
However, I cannot provide steps to reproduce it: many times it will not crash ...

Kind regards,
Sander.

Hello,

Not sure if it is completely appropriate to post a work-around here for this problem until this issue gets looked at, but given it seriously affected my workflow (and had me consider returning to Windows!) it may help someone else.

I set up a VirtualBox virtual machine running Xubuntu 11.10 and use Remmina inside the virtual machine. Works a treat, alows me to use 4 active desktops without any issues and the clipboard works (has been a problem in Remmina since upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04). Hopefully Remmina will be fixed shortly but this works well for me in the meantime.

Fintan.

Hi this happens to me:

having dual monitor setup, remmina in full screen mode on one of these monitors. When clicking out of the Remote Session works ok. Clicking back to the Remote Session doesnt close it - its just hiding on a different workspace (minimized)!

changing to the second workspace and bringing remmina up works fine! but if I do the same as before, like clicking on another application (not the Desktop) and then click back on the remote desktop it goes back to workspace one!

Perhaps this helps to solve the problem.

Hi Daniel

It is indeed annoying and a big cock up in a long term release version of
Ubuntu if you ask me!

The only work around I have found is quite inelegant...but it works. I have
set up a virtual machine using VirtualBox running Xubuntu 11.10 and use
Remmina in that. It's the only way I could see that would allow me to use
up to date ubuntu release and Remmina together.

Given this bug is over a year old and there is no progress whatsoever on it
it makes me worried that it is low priority / no priority which is
disappointing.

So far seems to work very well and easy to set up. Goodbye Remmina!

Just to report that the combination Ubuntu 12.04 LTS + remmina 1.0.0-1.ubuntu6.1 doesn't work at all: same issues as above.

Sorry to write this, but if you are a sysadmin:

- don't use remmina if you have lots of machines to remotely manage.

- please, do respect yourself and your time: don't use remmina.

The bottom of line is: If the main developers don't fix it asap, remmina is a completely useless piece of software for sysadmins.

Running remmina from the terminal, here is the output:

Sam, thank you for your comment. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal:
cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo service apport start force_start=1

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a new report, you would be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line:
sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf

and comment out the line:
'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

by changing it to:
# 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],

Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via:
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash

Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report.

Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report.

Thank you for your understanding.
