upgrade tool failure

Bug Description

While upgrading my ubuntu Fiesty to ubuntu 7.11 i got an error saying that the tool had failed, and that i should report a bug.
So i do, and i have attached my logs from the /var/log/dist-upgrade directory.

a file named term.log was present in the directory but it was empty.

Harshath,

Have you attempted the upgrade again? Hopefully it was just a one time thing.

Also, it appears you have automatix installed. Unfortunately that makes our debugging much harder (automatix is not an officially supported piece of software). Because of that, we might not be able to help you upgrade. That means that if it doesn't work when you attempt the upgrade again, you will need to backup all of your important information and then install Gutsy manually.

To ensure ease of upgrades in the future, it is best to not install automatix.
