Hi, I am original reporter.

Now my upgrade failed installation of redmine seems to work.

After solving other not related to redmine apache starting problems after distro upgrade I can log in in redmine and see my projects.

I do not know about the consecuences of the redmine upgrade failure. Neither do I know if some data model upgrade should have be done leaving data corrupted. I have navigated from redmine web UI and I can see my projects and tasks.

Thank you,
txemi.

Please reinstall or reconfigure redmine to make sure DB was migrated properly.

The thing with redmine package is that installation fails if no DB is reachable.

when configured by dbconfig, redmine need a running database to upgrade.
But there are times when even a nicely configured database may not be running, like upgrading
redmine and the database server as the same time.

Same error here with a 64bits server upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04. After some initial tests seems redmine is working perfectly.
I am scared to apply the upgrade to precise on production.

I just encountered this problem (but with mysql running). "mkdir /usr/share/redmine/tmp" made the script work. In my case the tmp directory was required by the gitosis redmine plugin.
