Bug Description
Binary package hint: readahead-list
While the current boot.list (or rather it's stripped desktop version) include everything from a GDM using Ubuntu setup, it is absolutely unaware of KDM using setups (namely Kubuntu).
This is a pretty grave issue, because KDM, unlike GDM, pulls in a considerable amount files/libraries so that readahead could really make a difference.
Best way is probably to run the boot.list recreation on an Ubuntu VM as well as on a Kubuntu VM, and then merge the 2 resulting files to archive the best results for both usecases.
Also, I was wondering if unavailable files might cause a noticable overhead, in which case GDM and KDM probably should ship appropriate lists themselfs (only using the one of the DM in action of course).
+1
There should be a version for kubuntu.
