Bug Description

Binary package hint: rdesktop

Since upgrading Windows XP to SP3, I cannot connect from rdesktop any more. The window opens and closes within a millisecond, without any error messages. Here is the only output I get:

$ rdesktop otherhost
Autoselected keyboard map en-us

I am using rdesktop 1.5.0 on Ubuntu Hardy. Connecting to SP2 - with either Hardy or Gutsy - was no problem.

This also happens to me. I did not install SP3 explicitly, but I have automatic updates notifications and I clicked yes always, so xp is fully updated.

I'm seeing this exact same behavior. I'm not sure why there aren't more reports about this out on the web - seems like something that a lot of people would run into.

Is there any way to put rdesktop in verbose/debug mode so we can see what's going on?

I had the same problem and found a solution. Neither rdestkop nor XP SP3 were the cause but the Nvidia drivers (on the XP system). Driver version 175.xxx ships a faulty driver (RDPDD.dll). Upgrading to 178.xxx solved the problem for me and rdesktop works fine again.

Hope this helps some of you too.
