Bug Description

Binary package hint: rasmol

It seems the rasmol binary is broken in Intrepid (8.10) on Nvidia hardware (have tried on 7300GS, 8300 integrated, and 9600GT). The objects have visual artifacts and the coordinate system is off centre for zooming and rotation. Specifically I have tried this with xyz format files, not sure about others.

This is a screenshot of rasmol-classic running on my machine (jaunty), which has an nvidia 8500gt graphics card. The window is in fact semi-transparent. The white and orange tinting that the molecule has on the right hand side, is the window behind (firefox displaying www.ubuntu.com). It is also seen that the molecule is drawn with dots.

This is a screenshot of rasmol-gtk running on the same machine as above. It can be seen that the molecule is split, and when rotating, the two halves rotate separately. It appears to be some kind of viewport/wrapping problem. The molecule also appears "dotted".

Both rasmol-classic and -gtk seem to work flawlessly on my Dell mini 12 (running jaunty), which doesn't even have a working X-driver (uses the vesa driver).
