Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

(Sorry: newbie)
I have 8.10 installed; GNOME-desktop doesn't work, I have to use Xfce instead. When I try to upgrade, I allways get the same error-message: E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
and

When I type "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" or "sudo dpkg --configure -a" I get always this...

(These are the first few lines of the terminal output:)

 gthumb hängt ab von scrollkeeper; aber:
  Paket scrollkeeper ist nicht installiert.
  Paket rarian-compat, das scrollkeeper bereitstellt, ist noch nicht konfiguriert.
