In the future, please don't use the "In progress" status on backports bugs - that status has a special meaning to the project, and it's likely to result in us ignoring the bug.

Before we can proceed with the backport, we need some basic verification that the package can be expected to work once it's backported. In case you don't have access to a test build, I've uploaded a test build of the backport to my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~broder/+archive/backports-tests). Please verify that the package successfully builds, that you can install the resulting packages, and that the packages run once installed.

I've marked the bug as "Incomplete" for the moment, but please feel free to change the status to "Confirmed" once you've verified the test packages.
