Bug Description

In gnome-keybinding-properties keys can be set, but don't affect any application like rythmbox or quodlibet. The Volume control works, but the buttons set under break / next / last don't.

Sorry, I can't reproduce this bug (all the MM keys work for me in all applications that uses them). Can you tell us exactly (step by step) what you are doing and the results?

- open gnome-keybinding-properties
- go to "mute"
- bind to "mute key" -> key changes to 0xa0
- hit "mute key" -> works, musics mutes

- hit "next track key" -> nothing happens

- bind "mute" to "next track key" -> value changes to 0x99
- hit "next track key" -> music mutes

So the problem seems that the signal is not sent to the audio player.

Just to be absolutely sure, if you bind your MM key "next track" (0x99) to the "Skip to next track" function and you press it, then Rythmbox will not skip to the next track, correct?
Is this consistent, ie. no matter what key you bind to the "Skip to next track" function?
What are the functions (note, functions, not MM keys) that appear to be not working and with which application?

do you still have a problem? I didn't receive any answer yet from you.

I just reinstalled ubuntu 7.04 and now it works in totem but not in
quodlibet. So the bug is probably specific to quodlibet.

I'm experiencing the same problem after upgrading from edgy to feisty. (MM keys worked in edgy.) I have keys mapped correctly to next/previous track, but they are unresponsive in QuodLibet.

This affects:

- next track
- previous track
- play/pause
- stop

volume up/down keys work fine.

I have a laptop (Dell Inspiron e1405 with multimedia keys), and an external keyboard (which I use with the same laptop, also with multimedia keys--a Microsoft keyboard), and the results are the same whether I use the laptop built-in buttons or the keys on the external keyboard.

The system is detecting the keys, because I can change the key bindings in Gnome. So it's just quodlibet that's not receiving the signal.

The problem seems to be quodlibet specific, as in Banshee the keys work fine. (I haven't tried Rhythmbox as I don't have it installed.)

More specifically, the problem is probably with quodlibet-ext package, which is responsible for adding multimedia key support (I do have that package installed).

Just to clarify that this is really still a problem, my multimedia keys worked in Quod Libet in Edgy, but don't work after upgrading to Feisty. Dell Inspiron 8600 with Play/Pause, Stop, Backward, Forward. The keys work in Rhythmbox. I have quodlibet-ext installed.
