Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

 At a minimum, we need:
 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
 2. the behavior you expected, and
 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Which packages got removed?
which release of ubuntu is used?

 Thanks!

I have moved to Hardy Heron Alpha 4 via fresh install from Live CD.
after trying a
root@HewittRand-desktop:~# sudo apt-get remove libselinux1
as suggested by someone to fix another constantly crashing program.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poker-network/+bug/95836/comments/11
nothing really worked on my computer after that, so I had to re-install, so I put the new Alpha 4 on here.
So I guess you can close the bug as it relates to me, for now, and I will file if it happens again.
thanks

I understand that you are able to launch all other applications, except Qtparted.

The bug description needs to be changed.

No, that is not quite the case.
There was 4 Applications that were not working including:
-Clicking on ->Places->Computer gets this error:
Could not launch menu item
Error reading file 'file:///usr/share/applications/nautilus-computer.desktop': File not found

-Clicking on ->Places->CD/DVD CREATOR gets this error:
Error reading file 'file:///usr/share/applications/nautilus-cd-burner.desktop': File not found

Somebody must of deleted the screenshots or they got lost in the system, which doesn't help with the reporting part of this. They should be restored if they can be. (they have affected the proper reporting of this bug).

The log does not show if anyone deleted them, so the system must be losing infomation.
Those two above are working now, but some others do not work still.

I expected Qt-Parted to run, so I could check drive partitions.
Instead it gives me error message and doesn't open.

I expected Wireless Assistant to run, so I could use my wireless adapter.
Instead it gives me error message and doesn't open.
Could not Launch Application: Failed to execute child process. "ksystraycmd" (No such file or directory)

I expected Applications Launcher to run, so I could adjust Application properties.
Instead it gives me error message and doesn't open.
Error message
Could not launch application
Not a launchable item
also this error:
Error
Could not launch application
No command (Exec) to launch

I expected Limewire to run, so I could use it to download stuff.
Instead it doesn't run anymore, it just doesn't open.
I tried to just take screenshot of window, but whole desktop got taken.
HAL failing to initialize, might be affect some of these now.

In the original bug description you stated that when you upgraded, 4 programs got deleted. Did you get a message during the upgrade that packages would be deleted, and which packages were noted?

Do I understand it right, that you reinstalled your system with a clean install and therefore have no access to the installation log anymore?

Thanks

Yes, 4 programs got deleted(uninstalled, then deleted, yes) in Alpha3, I did get a message, though about it for a minute, and tried it anyway. I did not document removed packages at that time.
Yes, you have it right, I did a fresh install, and don't have same installation log. So you can close this bug for me with Alpha 3, but Alpha 4, has some of the some issues; (but go ahead and close this for me in Alpha 4), which I posted in comment 10. I am going to dist-upgrade to Alpha 5 as soon as it's ready today, or when ever, and will re-open this bug, or file new, if I notice any problems with this issue. Thanks.
