i tried to reset the windows in Octave. However the whole application closed and reported a error.

I can confirm this crash in the current stable version of Ubuntu (15.04). However, qtoctave is marked as deprecated because it hasn't been maintained for a long time, and Octave now includes its own native GUI. Anyone affected by this bug would be better off using the current stable version of Octave with its own GUI instead of qtoctave.

Now that qtoctave has been removed, and is not in the latest 16.04 LTS release, I'm going to call this unfixable and invalid. Upstream for qtoctave is nonexistent, the project is no longer supported in Ubuntu, there's no point in leaving this open to be fixed in old LTS versions only.
