Bug Description
In the latest Unity8 release while in a desktop session, no scopes are being shown in the Dash.
The favorite-scopes gconf key shows what is expected:

Can you try updating & upgrading again? Someone else was having problems like yours https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/ubuntu/ +source/ unity8/ +bug/1513852 and says that a dist-upgrade fixed it.
