Bug Description

This bug is to track the feature of eventually getting rid of hard coded -opengl desktop / es2 selection on Linux too. This would mostly make maintenance easier, as the many "-gles" x86 packages would not be needed anymore and symbols handling would be simpler.

Upstream is not currently prioritizing this so it would be Qt 5.7 at earliest. Qt supports -opengl dynamic on Windows to be able to dynamically switch between a native OpenGL and a GLES library.

There has been no progress in upstream in Qt 5.7, 5.8 or 5.9 development series..
