Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdeprint
The poster Option from kdeprint does not work / shows error.
Just wanted to print a poster from KDE the first time (pls. note: I use a german KDE-Localization; I hope I translate the Items correctly)
-Opened a Picture in Gwenview
- Selected File/Print
- Selected Properties for the Printer
- Selected the Poster-Tab
- Checked the "print Poster" Checkbox
- An error is being displayed in the Dialog:
"
poster: invalid option -- F
Usage: poster infile
options are:
-v: be verbose
-f: ask manual feed on plotting / printing device
-i: specify input image
"
The same error (with some more options being displayed) is being shown in System Settings / Printer / Profile / Poster once the "print Poster" checkbox is checked.
I read that kdeprint needs a KDE-modified Version of poster, so checked which package the program belongs to:
ralf@flounder:~$ dpkg -S /usr/bin/poster
poster: /usr/bin/poster
As that "poster" didn't look like KDE-modified I wanted to remove in adept and replace with the KDE-Version; however, once I selected to deinstall poster Adept showed that I also wanted to delete kdeprint.
This happened in Kubuntu 8.04.
ralf@flounder:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04
ralf@flounder:~$ dpkg -l kdeprint\* poster\*

+++-===
ii kdeprint 4:3.5.9-0ubunt print system for KDE
ii poster 1:19990428-8 Create large posters out of PostScript pages
Would be great if this could be fixed (I'm not sure; from what I found the "standard" Poster should be replaced by either the KDE-modified Version or by a more recent "standard" Poster).
Cheers!
