Bug Description

I'm using ubuntu-gis ppa as you do recommend.
I have both qgis-plugin-grass and qgis-plugin-grass-common installed. In "plugins" -> "Manage and Install Plugins" I can type grass and have no result. The other plugins, like OpenLayers or MMQGIS, does works.

Obs.: tried to unistall qgis then remove ~/.qgis2/python/plugins and after this reinstall qgis.
Obs2.: tried qgis-2.9 from nightly build too with no success

Grass 7 is not (yet) compatible with the qgis grass plugin.

Note that there is a crowdfunding initiative to develop it:
http://www.gissula.eu/qgis-grass-plugin-crowdfunding/

The plugin will become available if you downgrade to grass 6.4. This
can be done using:
sudo apt-get install grass-core=6.4.3-3 grass-gui=6.4.3-3 grass=6.4.3-3

Note that if everything works as expected after downgrading you probably want to make sure grass doesn't update the next round, so "hold" it:

Johan Van de Wauw, thanks. Downgrading solved the issue.

Little question: why the non-compatible grass version is the default dependency of qgis?

Since QGIS 2.8.4 there is some support for GRASS 7 in the provider plugin. The qgis-plugin-grass package still only supports GRASS 6, the next QGIS LTR will include support GRASS 7 in qgis-plugin-grass again.
