As expected there was more work for the auxiliary coding (get virtglrenerer MIR approved, get it to work with apparmor cleanly, ... than the actual enabling).
For your black screen issue, I have not seen that one so far (but a bunch of others issues which so far all were tied to my experimental system setup). You could open a new bug describe as much about the setup and steps to reproduce and I can take a look.
