Bug Description

Sorry for posting this here, but I see no method to request updates to https://salsa.debian.org/webmaster-team/packages which updates the package version used in Ubuntu 22.04.

Currently, python3.11.0-rc1 breaks just about everything in Ubuntu (arp, pip, etc.). It would be nice if the volunteers that maintain this list update the version to say 3.11.4 since our security will not let us use deadsnakes.

Thank you for your time.

This isn't a bug in the packages website, you are reporting about the python3.11 package. Please always try to find the correct package and not file it against an unrelated service that has no influence on the packaging work itself.

Changed in pkg-website:
status: New → Invalid
affects: pkg-website → python3.11 (Ubuntu)
Changed in python3.11 (Ubuntu):
status: Invalid → New

Bumping this -- I use Databricks, and Databricks' latest release major version ( https://docs.databricks.com/en/release-notes/runtime/15.4lts.html#system-environment ) uses Ubuntu 22.04LTS which is based on this:

> Thanks for raising this up. We mostly only install the Python supported by Ubuntu. In this case, Ubuntu 22 officially supports 3.11.0rc1: https://packages.ubuntu.com/jammy-updates/python3.11

so locked python environments fail version constraint checks now, eg,

> markers 'python_full_version >= "3.8.10" and python_version < "3.12"' don't match your environment

There was even a second release candidate: https://peps.python.org/pep-0664/, and the final bugfix release for the 3.11 family was 3.11.9 .
