Bug Description

Occasionally, getmail crashes while retrieving mail. It uses up a couple gigabytes of memory and eventually gets killed. I'm attaching the exception that cron emails to me and the results of "getmail --dump"

I'm using an updated Jaunty 64-bit system with 4 gigabytes of RAM.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in getmail4.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

This bug was reported to jaunty and getmail version 4.8.4 is recorded in bug log.

Since Jaunty package only had 4.8.4-1 this should be associated to 4.8.4-1 .

The upstream current version is 4.20.0. I recommend Ubuntu to backport from Debian sid.

2 other bugs I see are for older ones.
