This seems like python-support not cleaning something up.

Try as I might, I cannot reproduce this. I've looked at the code too - if update-python-modules gets called after pysupport has been updated, then the code is totally different and this warning doesn't even exist. So I don't understand it, but I have one more thing to try before I give up.

As a possible hint, I don't think there were any packages installed that use
python-support in precise, so I wonder if some update event got missed since
no packages required it?

That's my thinking too - that some update got missed, but it might even have been python-support (since otherwise the new python-support without this warning would have gotten installed, right?).

I did try my "one other thing" and again failed to reproduce it. I think for now I'll mark this bug incomplete, but if anybody gets some more information, please do re-open it.
