Bug Description
python-poppler is scheduled for removal from Debian Testing soon. We should remove python-poppler before Ubuntu 18.04 LTS's release so that we don't have to support the unmaintained bindings longer.
It has 3 reverse-depends:
- gourmet
- lernid
- pdfshuffler

(I'm the maintainer of Lernid).
Unless someone turns up who is using Lernid or wants to use it (very, very unlikely)
I think it's about time to remove it from the Ubuntu repo.
Lernid uses telepathy for IRC but the introspection interfaces exposed by telepathy aren't sufficient for Lernid's use. Therefore moving to gtk introspection won't work without substituting another method of communicating over IRC.
I wrote something to do this but I didn't finish or integrate the new code into Lernid before the classroom activity ceased.
IMHO this and the other substantial work to use the introspection intefaces aren't justified unless we see that Lernid is used.
I suggest that you remove Lernid from Universe.
Jeremy, thanks for your work and the work of your colleagues in maintaining the Ubuntu repos.
If someone comes along later that wishes to use Lernid for some purpose I trust that they'll reach me and I can try to help them out with their needs.
