Bug Description

When I try to get help about python modules, the python interpreter consistently crashes. This happens both on the console and in idle. The ubunut-bug method of filing bugs tells me that it cannot report the bug for some reason.

Here is an example of the output:

$ python
Python 2.7.3rc1 (default, Mar 10 2012, 08:44:28)
[GCC 4.6.3] on linux2

Welcome to Python 2.7! This is the online help utility.

If this is your first time using Python, you should definitely check out

Enter the name of any module, keyword, or topic to get help on writing
Python programs and using Python modules. To quit this help utility and
return to the interpreter, just type "quit".

To get a list of available modules, keywords, or topics, type "modules",
"keywords", or "topics". Each module also comes with a one-line summary
of what it does; to list the modules whose summaries contain a given word
such as "spam", type "modules spam".

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Changed in python-defaults (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

Not sure how to get the log like the person above has but I'll provide as much information as I can.
Reproduction of error:
<START>

I un-commented line 27 in /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gobject/constants.py and now I can help()... modules

original:
     24 import gobject._gobject
     25 _gobject = sys.modules['gobject._gobject']
     26
     27 # TYPE_INVALID defined in gobjectmodule.c
     28 TYPE_NONE = _gobject.type_from_name('void')
     29 TYPE_INTERFACE = _gobject.type_from_name('GInterface')

new:
     24 import gobject._gobject
     25 _gobject = sys.modules['gobject._gobject']
     26
     27 TYPE_INVALID defined in gobjectmodule.c
     28 TYPE_NONE = _gobject.type_from_name('void')
     29 TYPE_INTERFACE = _gobject.type_from_name('GInterface')

I have no idea what other problems this might cause if any.

Un-commenting line 27 in /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gobject/constants.py definitely affect Gimp at the very least.

I am running a fresh install of 12.04. I am fairly certain that this bug is related to the problem that I am experiencing when using weather-indicator. It occasionally crashes and when it does I restart it from the terminal and get:
:/$ indicator-weather &

[1] Segmentation fault (core dumped) indicator-weather (wd: ~)
