Dropdown lists don't work

Bug Description

When I open a dropdown list, this shows up in my terminal, and the dropdown is empty:

The precompiled Blender 2.65a from blender.org does not have this problem with its bundled Python.

I believe this was python problem. anyway Ubuntu 13.04 was EOLed so I mark this bug as invalid.
