Bug Description

Binary package hint: pyrenamer

I have a directory of Truetype fonts from backup I intended to start using on my Hardy Heron system. They are currently in a 'backup' directory with a non-standard naming pattern. I intended to rename all to lowercase. I opened the directory, chose 'all downcase' on the 'substitutions' tab, and clicked preview. Just after the previewed list appeared, the error message came up.

This bug occurred for me today in Lucid - when I was trying to use the delete function to remove text from filenames (from 5th character to 19th character). It may be worth noting that there were Chinese characters in the filename.
