Bug Description
pyke is blocking the promotion of the latest version of ply. pyke is essentially dead upstream AFAICT. The only reverse-depends is science-
I think pyke should be whitelisted for promotion of ply and pycparser, and eventually removed from the archive.
This tracks the Debian bug requesting removal of the Recommends.

pyke ftbfs is probably hopeless. AFAICT, it hasn't been maintained upstream in years. The last update on SF is from 2013. This is why the original bug description suggested dropping it from the archive. Maybe we should close this bug as Won't Fix. It's now a Suggests in debian-science, but maybe we should remove it altogether?

we have our own version of debian-science. please demote it there to a suggests, then we can demote pyke to -proposed
