Pykaraoke doesn't play sound with soundfont files

Bug Description

This is an old issue.
When I use a standard timidity config - timidity uses freepats:
/etc/timidity/timidity.cfg has a line like this: 'source /etc/timidity/freepats.cfg' -
pykaraoke works well, but if I use a soundfont file like Unison.sf2 - /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg:
#source /etc/timidity/freepats.cfg
soundfont /path/to/Unison.sf2 -
pykaraoke doesn't play any sound.

Have you tried this (although it does suggest running it as root, it might give us some hints as to the cause):
