Bug Description

Upon installing pydb via aptitude, an error message appears during install:

"ERROR: pydb is broken - called emacs-package-install as a new-style add-on, but has no compat file."

(this suggests something between emacs24 and emacs25 has changed, since this error message did not appear to be present for emacs24 - see https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/pydb/+bug/1537938 )
