Bug Description

Binary package hint: pxe

Although the Atheros AR8131 chip that is present on the Asus M4A78LT-M motherboard is supported out of the box using the 10.04 live CD it is unable to do a PXE network install. The network install will halt with an error saying no network device found and if I manually try to detect network hardware it just gives the option to choose a driver. I have the newest netboot files and have done many other network installs with older motherboards.

Exact same problem here on Asus laptop UL50Ag-A2 with AR8131/8132 NIC, trying 10.04-alternate iso pxe network install.

I tried compiling the AR81 Family linux drivers 1.0.1.9 from Atheros (see http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24/+bug/341183) and putting them on a removable USB drive. But when the graphical net installer looks on the USB drive, either the drivers either didn't compile properly or the installer just doesn't see them.

Same problem here. My hardware is the Foxconn NT-330I-A-B-NA-A. Won't boot from the network, but the card works fine from a Live CD.

I was just made aware that they update the netboot file in lucid-updates pool instead of the lucid pool. If other people affected by this download the new netboot it will work. Thanks!
