Bug Description
Due to the problems with putty under XWayward (see bug 1720905) I logged off and chose XOrg for my new session. First thing after entering my password was the pterm crash. (Afterwards, I was able to launch putty successfully, which was not possible under Xwayward.)
I checked $XDG_SESSION_TYPE in a Shell, and it was set to X11, not Xwayward.
After I had entered my password for the bug report pterm was relaunched with a root shell. This, however, seems acceptable since my account has sudo rights.
