I was able to fix this by installing Realtek's Linux driver (3.0) at the bottom of this page: www.realtek. com.tw/ downloads/ downloadsView. aspx?Langid= 1&PNid= 24&PFid= 24&Level= 4&Conn= 3&DownTypeID= 3&GetDown= false

You have to tar -jxvf the bz2 file it downloads and run the ./install script, then reboot. You also have to unmute the master volumes again in your mixer - I had done this before and the install of the driver muted them again. After this, my sound worked in Linux and then worked in MythTV after a configuration change to tell the audio to use the new driver.
