No sound when insterting headphones

Hi, I had to go to Sound Settings..., Settings for Headphones, Balance: & move back & forth to get sound from headphones.Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) Beta 2 tested with a Acer Netbook.

I get the same issue. It's fixed in 12.10 using Unity, but the problem still exists when using gnome3.

Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017.
