Bug Description

I have two USB audio input devices: sound card and webcam

I always want to use the webcam for audio input

In gnome-control-center I go to "Input" tab and under "Choose a device for sound input:" I select "Webcam C270 Analogue Mono"

This works but is temporary. When webcam is unplugged and reconnected the sound card input becomes selected. Worse, when the system is rebooted, the sound card again becomes selected. There appears to be no way to always prefer the webcam audio input.

Hi!

For remembering your USB soundcard (webcam) through unplugging and plugging, that is probably not going to work for Ubuntu 12.04 - the functionality is not there. If you like what ever you plug in to become selected, you can try adding

load-module module-switch-on-connect

to /etc/pulse/default.pa

For rebooting, it should remember the last settings though.

affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) → pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
summary: - gnome-control-center sound forgets chosen preferred input device
+ pulseaudio forgets webcam is chosen preferred input device
