Microphone of Playstation Eye camera is not listed in "Input" devices after upgrade to 11.10

Bug Description

PS Eye contains 4 microphones for extra audio quality. It worked in previous versions of Ubuntu since 9.10 for me. Now in the "Settings" -> "Sound" -> "Input" only the following options("Connectors") are available:

"Line-in
Rear
Front"

Also the device itself is missing in the list below.

How does the device connect to the system?

If it is USB can you please run, in a terminal:

lsusb

And post the results?

Timothy, I'm a software engineer myself. Can you hint where to start debugging from? I really wanna help.

I think judging from the fact that the device is recognized by `lsusb`, I should look into pulseaudio's guts, right? Or it's the ALSA that can be the cause of this?

Same here, was working perfectly out of the box in 11.04, video is working fine
