Bug Description

Volume position is not saved upon system shutdown. Volume returns to max on log in.

This bug is present in Ubuntu 12.04 as well. First time you change the volume after login, it jumps back to the right value. Before that it's on max(!!!). I'm pretty sure it's a pulseaudio bug since the volume of the device, shown in alsamixer, doesn't change or show any weird behavior.

By the way, I have an Asus Xonar D1 (AV200) which means this bug affects multiple soundcards with different chips.

does the modified time of asound.state as same as the list of last shutdown or logout ?

ls -al /var/lib/alsa/asound.state

does the save sound setting as same as your selected ?

I've run that commands on logout then on login then after changing volume. After that I compared everyting in terminal:

Ohms differ as I played with alsamixer.

Seems that alsa volume level settings are never persisted or something like that.

you need to ask the pulseaudio developer whether PA support 8 channels "Master Playback Volume" control

I still have this issue with Ubuntu 14.10 but with the Xonar D1.
