after 11.10 upgrade: lost hardware device

Bug Description

A popup Startup message like HDA ULI M5461 not available, falling back to default and a KDE message "Removed Sound Devices". In Sound Settings there is no Hardware device.
Kernel modules and hardware seems OK. I can play soundfiles through alsas aplay and amarok.

try hda-jack-sense-test to find out whether your acer aspire e500 support jack detection of front panel headphone and mic

alc880 is a 8 channels codec and headphone need to share with line out jack (rear panel green jack) and there is no headphone playback volume control

Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) reached end-of-life on May 9, 2013.
