[Analog Devices AD1884A] Pulseaudio fails to detect card, works fine without pulseaudio

Bug Description

Before upgrade, I had safely removed pulseaudio and had working audio, absolutely fine. dist-upgrade has reinstalled pulse-audio, and, completely unsurprisingly, I now have no audio at all.

Ubuntu 11.10 (oneiric) reached end-of-life on May 9, 2013.
