Karmic : Pulseaudio can't find any hardware devices

Bug Description

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

If I go to System -> Preferences -> Sound and then choose the Hardware tab, there are no hardware devices lists.

However I have this:

     prompt > cat /proc/asound/cards

You're running kernel 2.6.28, while Karmic currently ships with kernel 2.6.31. Can you try with the standard Karmic kernel and see if that helps?

Yep, upgrading kernel fixed it.

Obviously this machine was upgraded from jaunty using 'do-release-upgrade -d' which for some reason didn't run the new kernel.
