Ahm - that doesn't come as a real surprise to me, since it is the modem driver that grabs the devices. However as far as I understand it, it shouldn't do that and uninstalling is one of the obvious workarounds but doesn't solve the problem.
Oh - and the modem won't work anymore. Well, nobody probably is using these things anymore...
Anyways, I'm still hoping for a solution.
