Bug Description
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
This problem certainly shows up on google searches. I upgraded from 8.10 and still have the old kernel there. If I boot using the old kernel 2.6.27-14, then sound works. Using 2.6.28-11 everything looks like it is working. Sound monitor shows bars that look like sound is being plyed, but no sound is coming out of anything.

I have the same problem, no audio at all on my hp dv6 1125ee, i did not upgrade it was a clean install. But after looking here i installed the old kernel and audio works when i boot with it ( video does not since i installed binary ATI driver but this is not related to this still funny i either get audio or video but not both ).
